The problem
Most practice-management tools are English interfaces with a translation layer. Direction, terminology and the Hijri calendar come as afterthoughts, and AI assistants often claim actions they never performed.
Overview
Lexa AI is a product I built and launched at lexaai.io. It brings cases, hearings, clients, documents and billing into one place, with an AI legal assistant that performs real actions inside the platform. Each firm is isolated at the Firestore rules level.
What I built
- 58 pages, 83 API endpoints and 6 scheduled jobs
- Every data-changing tool shows a confirmation card and waits for the lawyer
- Two independent guards catch the model claiming an action it never called
- A document scanner that runs entirely in the browser with zero network calls; the photo never leaves the device
- An SEO layer that audited 467 citations across published articles, found 89% of rendered links dead, and fixed them at the source
The engineering call
When the model returns a malformed tool call, the system retries without tools instead of asking the lawyer to rephrase. That is an encoding glitch on the model side, not a refusal, and the user should not pay for it.
